Cheri has been coaching for over 20 years (over 1/2 her life!). She has been the Head Coach since 1995 and loves the sport of competitive swimming. In addition to coaching, Cheri oversees the business side of running the club, which includes swim lessons, being the Meet Director for J-Hawk meets, and the Event Director, for the Earlybird and Latebird Triathlons.
*Coaching accomplishments: developing a 2000 Olympic Trial qualifier, 2 US National qualifiers, 2 Junior National champions, Junior National qualifiers, Wisconsin State champions, WIAA State champions, and Speedo Series, Central Zone, Wisconsin State and WIAA State qualifiers.
*Swimming Career: Cheri was a Big 10 Championship finalist, a Junior National, and a YMCA national competitor. She is the only Wisconsin USS coach that has been both the Coaches Rep and an Athletes Rep, at some point, in their career.
*Cheri's Quote: "I love this sport and want to help athletes be the best they can be, in and out of the water. It's a lot of fun to watch really hard-working kids achieve their goals and reach times, they would not have imagined previously. We are a small club and are often mistaken for being really big, because other teams see the high level of our athletes, and the commitment of our team's parents. The statement, SMALL, BUT MIGHTY, fits us to a tee."
*Personal: Cheri has been married for 13 years, to Eric. They have 5 children, ranging in age, from 5 to 12 years old. She considers her mom, Coach "D", the best coach she ever had.
